Membership is the simplest way to support the cabin, the stream and the trails, and it tells Iron County that people care about this place. Dues pay for materials and supplies: cabin repairs, interpretive signs, gravel for the drive and supplies for school field days.

Join, volunteer or give. Every one of them helps.
Cooks Run will be restored by neighbors: people who join, people who show up on a workday, and people who give.

Come to a workday
We plan three or four volunteer workdays a year, and each has a job list so you can pick something that suits you. Typical work includes:
- clearing the old two-track trails and cleaning up the grounds
- grading and graveling the drive to the cabin
- protecting the cabin: window covers, a stair railing, light repairs
- setting out picnic tables, benches and signs
- helping at public events and school field days
You do not need experience, only a willingness to work outdoors. Bring gloves, water and boots, plus tools or equipment if you have them.
Sign up for a workday
Pick a date on the calendar and tell us what you can do. Dates will be posted on the News & Events page.

Not sure of your schedule? Ask to be on the volunteer list and we will contact you when a workday is being organized. Write to info@friendsofcooksrun.org with “Workday list” in the subject.
Give to the project
Gifts of any size go directly to the work: repairs to the log cabin, trail and path work, signs, and field days for local students. Larger projects, like accessible paths and a permanent toilet, will also need grants, and your gifts help us qualify for them.
Other ways to help
Organizations, clubs and businesses are welcome to take part. Teachers can bring students to the site. Anyone with old photographs or stories of Cooks Run can share them. Write to us at info@friendsofcooksrun.org.
